Everything on this site is general information about California personal injury law. It is not legal advice, it is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer who knows the facts of your situation, and it should not be relied on as the basis for any decision about your rights.
The law changes. Statutes are amended, courts issue decisions, and deadlines and rules that were accurate when a page was written may not be accurate when you read it. Pages on this site carry the date on which their content was last reviewed. Even current information cannot account for the specific facts of your case, which routinely change the analysis.
No attorney-client relationship
Reading this website, calling our office, sending an email, or submitting the case review form does not create an attorney-client relationship. No such relationship exists unless and until a written fee agreement has been signed by you and by the firm.
This matters practically: information you send us before an agreement is signed is not protected by the attorney-client privilege in the way communications with your own lawyer are, and sending us information does not obligate us to take your case or to act to protect your deadlines. Please do not send confidential or sensitive documents through this website. Keep your initial inquiry general, and we will tell you when it is appropriate to send more.
Submitting an inquiry also does not stop any statute of limitations from running. Deadlines continue to run whether or not we have responded, which is the reason this site repeats so often that these matters are time sensitive.
No guarantees or predictions about results
Nothing on this site is a promise, guarantee or prediction about the outcome of any claim. Every case is different, and the result in one case does not indicate what will happen in another. Factors including the available insurance coverage, the strength of the liability evidence, the medical findings and the allocation of fault vary from case to case and determine what is possible.
This site deliberately contains no client testimonials, no case results, no settlement or verdict figures, no awards and no statistics about the firm's performance. That is a choice: such claims are difficult for a reader to verify and tell you little about your own matter.
Fees
The firm accepts personal injury matters on a contingency basis, meaning the attorney fee is a percentage of a recovery and no attorney fee is charged if there is no recovery. Case costs are a separate category from fees and are advanced by the firm while a case is open.
All of this is set out in a written agreement. California Business and Professions Code section 6147 requires a contingency fee agreement to state the fee rate, explain how costs and disbursements affect your recovery, and state that the fee rate is not set by law and is negotiable between attorney and client. Read your agreement and ask questions before signing it.
